Billioninvest Corporation (Bushkill, PA) and Dr. Andrew Masharov, artificial intelligence scientist (the University of Voronezh sponsored by the Russian National Academy of Sciences, Russia) came up with an interesting solution for biomedical and health care applications.

Dr. Masharov proposes implementation of so to speak "robotic eye" in testing various surfaces of the human body. The goal of this mechanism or robot is to assist in prosthetic treatment where complex cavities are involved. Intelligent vision created by Masharov can literally be compared to an imitation of the human eye. The primary advantage is that Masharov's robotic vision penetrates above and beyond surfaces detecting any hidden micro-element in cavities of the human area tested.

The system has been tested in oral treatment, specifically in prosthetic dentistry. Unlike its manual prototype, Masharov's robot-articulator does not require physical contact between practitioner and patient. In addition, unlike manually operated articulator, Masharov' robot-articulator provides unprecedented precision in testing, diagnostics and processing of motion inside and outside an oral area. As a result, prosthetic treatment is way more comfortable than what is currently used in modern dentistry. It is also more naturally diagnosed and modeled according to the individual makeup of a patient. Thus, chewing function upon prosthetic treatment is healthier and a patient is relieved from discomfort and/or side effects of prosthetic device usage.

It sounds simple when the application of a robot-articulator is described in plain language. In fact, Masharov's creation represents a highly complex system that integrates principles of applied mathematics, biophysics, bioengineering, medicine and computer science. The highest degree of precision has been achieved through the application of artificial intelligence and scientific programming. Experts confirm that this system is also applicable in such areas as telemedicine, medical diagnostics, preventive and rehabilitation therapies.

Currently used dental prosthetics production offer numerous shortcomings. Much physical contact with the patient is required to come up with the shape and form of the prosthesis. Doctors literally use their hands creating stress and physical pain for dental patients. Billioninvest offers contact free technology system which eliminates the need for manual interactions between doctors' hands and patients' mouth.

Under the new system special dots-sensors are applied to the face of the patient in three perpendicular planes. Then data collection and transmittal is initiated after patient is asked to chew food so that a natural jaw movement can be simulated by computer. This method is using video cameras and computers instead of hands and manual instruments. The process is relatively simple: one camera is pointed at the patient's face, a second below the jaw, and a third on the side of the jaw, thus creating a three dimensional image.

There are many advantages to the technical vision system. When used in diagnostics instead of X-rays it is completely radiation free. It is also much easier to use compared to ultrasound. Measurements are obtained quickly and their accuracy is superb. It is simple and cost efficient.

The results produce enhanced image processing technology (similar to the EKG scans of the heart). These results can be stored and further processed at a later date or for any other reason and need. This further contributes to medical histories of patients, greater scientific base in related areas of health care, medical student training at schools and advancement of knowledge at research libraries.

The scans made by the Dr. Masharov's system need only be made once due to low error rate in computer point-based assessments compared to inaccurate manual measurements. The jaw movements recorded by the technical visual system model motion behavior of real life.
A special robot articulator is used in the contactless technology. The inventors of the robot have patented this cutting-edge technology in the Russian Federation. The schematic touch technique can be summarized as follows: the video - image processing by technical vision system creates jaw trajectory measurements in three dimensions which are converted into a format understandable by the robot (supported by the proprietary software). The data is then fed into robotic control system, which dictates the movement of the robot, which then makes the prosthesis. This technology provides obvious economic benefits over the manual manufacturing process currently used.

Jaw studies based on Dr. Masharov's technology are affordable, fast, and very accurate. The final product is of the highest quality - due to a system especially designed to achieve the best results with a high degree of operational efficiency.

Since the Second World War the United States acquired and maintained prominence in science and technology. The pursuit of this prominence has become a National Purpose that has sparked the inestimable development of technology in such varied fields as Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Electronic, Engineering, Informational Science (inclusive of computer technology) and Cosmology. In the recent decade the US has worked in tandem with Russian agencies and the value of Russian original research cannot be discounted.

Robotic articulator designed by Dr. Masharov in Russia and presented by Billioninvest Corporation in the United States is but one example how American-Russian cooperation can strive for peace and benefit the overall advancement of science, health care and quality of life.
